Double Post: Episodes 12 and 13.

This week, we have two episodes of We Talk to Ourselves for you.

Episode 12 - Podcast: The Nerdening

On this episode of We Talk To Ourselves:

  • DC Comics and the New 52 - Why is DC trying so hard to sabotage their own products?  From editorial mismanagement, to professional ineptitude, and questionable moral decisions, DC comics is slowly but surely eroding the foundation of what was supposed to be their fresh start.
  • We Watch Movies Review: Riddick - We review the latest installment of the Riddick franchise, complete with all of its violence, gore, and overt sexism.
  • Cosplay:  The stigma of purity - We talk about the belief that you have to be the same race, gender, or body type to cosplay a character, and why people believe this.
  • Special Guest: Hunter - We discuss game mastery, problem players and GM's, and some of our favorite moments that have arisen out of our RPG experiences.

Episode 13 - F'in Science!

On this episode of We Talk To Ourselves:

  • Magic/Superpowers - Suddenly, and without warning, a large portion of the population of Earth has superpowers or access to limitless magical power.  We discuss what we think would happen when the monkeys suddenly have the power of the gods.
  • Time Travel - We hop in the DeLorean and go back in time...not really, since we talk about how modern science thinks that doing so is highly improbable.  We also talk about our favorite media that portrays time travel, and where we would go if we could break the bonds of time.
  • F'in Science! - At great length we talk about science.  Everything from making light a solid, to planets made of mercury, and Nikola Tesla.
  • Week in Geek - Comics, games, TV, and movies from the week we recorded.

We Play RPG's Episode 2: Parts 3-7

This week on We Play RPG's!

  • The party meets a new member!  Then they realize he's quite less wizardy than they would have liked.
  • In the vast wastes of the Great Desert, the party encounters a set of awesome ruins, containing some not so awesome things.
  • At the capital, things get real.  Like, really real.
Also, of note.  Some of you may have noticed some things aren't quite adding up.  There was a whole episode that got lost to data corruption.  It involved a slave ship, meeting members of The Seven, fighting a Master, and blowing up a ship, as well as running from a Witherbeast and a Chinook.  I'd love to have posted that for you, but it wasn't to be.  My apologies, but I hope this episode makes up for it.

  • Firefly:  We talk about it so the healing can begin.
  • M. Night Shymalan: Y u so bad at movies?

Episode 10: Ghandi is a Dick [Spoilers]

In this episode of We Talk To Ourselves:

  • Dreams.  Why are they so weird?  Is it because we're crazy or is it because our brains are a big bowl of life soup that just keeps on sloshing up strange and wonderful things?  The crew talks about some of their weird dreams, and why they think they happen.
  • Comics aren't for GIRLS!  Or at least that's what Todd McFarlane, Gerry Conway, and Mark Millar say.  The guys talk about how you can't be much more wrong, and have a nice lengthy discussion about women in refrigerators.
  • Phil Reviews: Flashpoint Paradox, a new entry in the DC Animated universe based on the Flashpoint comic series that ushered in the New 52.  This review will contain spoilers, I didn't have time to make a warning, so if you want to skip the spoilers, scrub over to 17 minutes and 50 seconds in hour 2.
  • GamesCom 2013.  The largest industry event for interactive entertainment, or as I call it, those damn vidja games.  The guys talk about some of the big titles they're excited about coming in the next few months.

  • No wait I wasn-.  Creepy cutoffs often leave the audience wondering what the hell happened in that storyline that was just being played out.  We discuss some of the weirder cutoff storylines in media, including some of the creepy crap Nickelodeon tried to pass off as children's television.

  • And much more random!
Also, a few programming notes.  The format has been shaken up a bit, since I didn't like how the bumper music was working out, so we cut the intermission music and trailer music.  We instead added new stingers by our good friend Ryan Mozal, who has an awesome announcer voice.  Also he does our intermission plugs for the following things:
And on a more frustrating note, there are some random sound issues in this podcast I was unable to edit out. This was due to a hardware error, luckily they aren't distracting enough to ruin the entire podcast, and I'll be working to iron those issues out in the future.  Thanks for your continued patronage.
